Worked in whole cents: the tax is rounded to the nearest cent (half a cent goes up) and the other amount is the difference, so the boxes always add up. From a gross amount the tax is gross × rate ÷ (100 + rate); from a typed tax amount the net is worked back and your tax amount stays as typed. Skatteverket: standard rate 25%; reduced rates 12% and 6%. From 1 April 2026 food (including takeaway) is taxed at 6% instead of 12%, until 31 December 2027; food and drink consumed at a restaurant or café stays at 12%.

How do I add VAT to a net price?
Multiply the net amount by (1 + rate ÷ 100). At 25%, a net price of 100.00 becomes 125.00 gross, of which 25.00 is VAT. The calculator on this page does it with Sweden's verified rates preloaded.
How do I work out the VAT included in a gross price?
Multiply the gross (tax-inclusive) amount by rate ÷ (100 + rate), then subtract the result to get the net price. At 25% the share is 25/125 (about 20%): a gross price of 100.00 contains 20.00 VAT and 80.00 net. Type the gross amount into the calculator's gross box to do this for any amount.
