Net 45 Calculator: Due Date and Meaning of Net 45 Terms

Net 45 means the full invoice amount is due 45 calendar days after the invoice date. An invoice dated 10 January 2026 is due on 24 February 2026 (Tuesday). Weekends and public holidays count like any other day.

Also written as: Net45 · Net 45 days · 45 days net · payment terms 45 days · payment within 45 days

It starts with today's date, so the first result is Net 45 from today. Net terms on an invoice count from the invoice date unless the contract says otherwise; if your contract counts from another event, such as receipt of the invoice, delivery or completion of the work, enter that date instead.

What Net 45 means

due date = invoice date + 45 calendar days. The day after the invoice date is day 1, and day 45 is the due date: the last day to pay on time, unless the contract says otherwise.

This is date arithmetic only. Where a law sets its own payment period, it can count from a different event; the rules we have verified are quoted below.

"Weekend" is only a flag: Net 45 counts calendar days, and whether a payment due on a Saturday or Sunday may be made on the next business day is for your contract to say.

Net 45 vs 45 Days EOM

Net 45 counts from the invoice date. 45 Days EOM counts 45 days from the end of the invoice month (method 1). A second reading counts 45 days from the invoice date and then runs to the end of that month (method 2). The same invoice dates give these due dates:

What the law says about 45-day payment periods

These rules set legal periods of their own, quoted word for word. Where a rule says what its period counts from, that is noted under the quote: it is not always the invoice date that "Net 45" on an invoice counts from.

California (state agencies): California state agencies: 45 calendar days from receipt of an undisputed invoice

Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, to avoid late payment penalties, the maximum time from state agency receipt of an undisputed invoice to the date of payment is 45 calendar days. If payment is not issued within 45 calendar days from the state agency receipt of an undisputed invoice, late payment penalties shall be paid to the claimant in accordance with Sections 927.6 and 927.7.
— Cal. Gov. Code § 927.4. California Legislative Information · verified . Counts from the state agency's receipt of an undisputed invoice, not from the invoice date. California state agencies only (Government Code, Chapter 4.5, Prompt Payment of Claims); not private buyers.

Is Net 45 the same as 45 days EOM?

No. 45 days EOM counts from the end of the invoice month, so it gives the customer between 45 and 75 days. On an invoice dated 15 January 2026, Net 45 is due on 1 March 2026 and 45 days EOM on 17 March 2026 (counting from the last day of the month).

California Government Code § 927.4 sets 45 calendar days from the state agency's receipt of an undisputed invoice to the date of payment, to avoid late payment penalties; §§ 927.6 and 927.7 set the penalties.
